25 – 30 May in Siófok, Hungary – The representative from Vinca Nuclear Institute, appointed by Serbian Radiation and Nuclear Safety and Security Directorate, attended the 14th Tihany Symposium on Radiation Chemistry.
The lecturers – renowned scientists in the field of radiation chemistry and radiation technology – Mohamad Al-Sheikhly (USA, Mark Driscoll (USA), Nicholas Green (England), Suresh Pillai (USA), and others, presented the participants from more than 50 countries around the world with the fundamental processes in radiation chemistry, gamma irradiation and accelerator applications, environmental protection, food preservation, dosimetry, and irradiation process control.
The Symposium was also an opportunity to have constructive counselling and present the results of inter-laboratory comparison, which will substantially contribute to upgrading reliability and accuracy of dosimetry results of the absorbed radiation doses in industrial sterilization and preservation facilities by means of ionizing radiation.
As a reminder, the Radiation Unit within Vinca Nuclear Institute is the only industrial radiation facility in the Republic of Serbia that provides irradiation services to numerous users in different industrial branches (medical equipment and health care instruments sterilization, food and cultural heritage preservation, environmental protection) while the certificate on precise absorbed radiation dose contributes to the users’ increased safety and trust in this method.
