Serbian Radiation and Nuclear Safety and Security Directorate is currently in the final stage of the testing and commissioning of a new early warning system of a nuclear or radiological emergency. This system is based on 32 instruments that measure the radioactivity in the air, including one location on the Danube where radioactivity is to be measured in river water.
Our new early warning measuring stations are a part of the EUropean Radiological Data Exchange Platform (EURDEP), which means that the radioactivity measuring data are visible and available to all the members of this platform and the public as well.
EURDEP consists of data exchange mechanism and presentation website for radiological monitoring data which is collected and shared by 39 participating countries in almost real time.
As a reminder, in December 2021, Serbian Radiation and Nuclear Safety and Security Directorate signed a new EURDEP Administrative Agreement with the European Commission, which meant the renewal of the agreement on the measuring data delivery to the European Radiological Data Exchange Platform – EURDEP.

Newly-designed early warning system will soon be available on the website of the Directorate. At the same time, the mobile device application is being prepared which will make this method of radioactivity measurements in the air available to all citizens of our country.
