On 14 May 2019 the representatives of Serbian Radiation and Nuclear Safety and Security Directorate attended the meeting in Brussels on future regional project – Preparation for and response to emergencies in case of nuclear or radiological accident for Western Balkan countries. The meeting and the Project were endorsed by the European Commission’s Directorate General for International Cooperation and Development.

The meeting was the opportunity for the participating countries to present their capacities for early warning of a radiological or nuclear accident. In addition, the representatives of the European Commission introduced the ways of joining the EU platforms for early warning (EURDEP and ECURIE) and using the assessment and forecast tools in case of accident (ARGOS and RODOS).

This meeting opened up the opportunity for Serbia to enhance its early warning system by participating in the planned project, as well as to procure the program for the assessment and forecast in case of a radiological or nuclear accident.
