In the organization of the Ministry of Mining and Energy of the Republic of Serbia, the Vinca Institute of Nuclear Sciences hosted the representative of CEZ Group from the Czech Republic, Mr Sebastian Poche, who gave a talk.
The representatives of the ministries and institutions, as well as the members of the expert community in the Republic of Serbia had an opportunity to gain insight into Czech national nuclear programme and, in particular, the development of small modular reactors (SMRs) in the Czech Republic. Among a number of advantages of SMRs, Mr Poche underlined the lower capital expenditures and shorter time for their construction, modularity and standardization allowing mass production, as well as a higher level of security.
The attendees had an opportunity to get acquainted with the steps in the SMR construction, and the evaluations carried out in the Czech Republic, which resulted in the selection of the proper technology.
By pointing at the basic features of the selected technology, ways to raise awareness and promote the use of nuclear energy in the Czech public, Mr Poche expressed readiness for further cooperation and offered support to the representatives of the Republic of Serbia in the field of nuclear energy development.
