Serbian experts took part in the “Interregional Workshop on Cost Estimation for Environmental Remediation“, which was organized as part of the interregional project INT9183 “Overcoming the Barriers to Implementation of Decommissioning and Environmental Remediation Projects” in Poços de Caldas in Brazil.
The objective of the workshop was to assist the participating countries in increasing their capacities in the field of remediation project management. The representatives from PC Nuclear Facilities of Serbia see this workshop as an important opportunity to upgrade their knowledge of remediation planning, especially in terms of project cost estimation, to get deeper insight into the fundamental elements of cost estimation for each phase of remediation, different methodologies used in the process of price estimate, and finally how and where these are applied.
Having in mind the intended remediation of the closed uranium mine Gabrovnica near Kalna, the workshop was of great importance as the participants had the opportunity to visit the former mine Poços de Caldas that had been remediated. This way, they discussed the applied methods and technical solutions on the spot, which particularly contributed to expanding their knowledge and understanding of the topic.
