The two-day national table-top exercise (TTX Serbia) that will be organized and conducted by Serbian Radiation and Nuclear Safety and Security Directorate will be held on 08 and 09 February 2023 in Belgrade within the WB Project “Emergency Preparedness and Response in the Western Balkan Region”.
In order to test the response mechanisms in case of a nuclear or radiological emergency in Serbia, the exercise will serve to simulate a severe accident in one of the nuclear power plants in the region, which will affect all the countries in the region, including Serbia, to various extent.
The exercise will test the use of JRODOS Decision Support System (DSS) to formulate recommendations on protective actions to the decision makers, in all phases of the emergency response.
The table-top exercise focuses on the use of Decision Support System (DSS) to support the decision-making process in a nuclear emergency for the purpose of implementing the protective actions for the public, and addresses interactions between DSS operators and decision makers that are participating physically in the exercise.
The players in the exercise are the representatives of Serbian Radiation and Nuclear Safety and Security Directorate, as well as the representatives of the public institutions that have the role of operators and decision-makers within JRODOS support system.
The detail evaluation of the exercise will be on 09 February, immediately after the completion of the entire exercise.
As a reminder, the Republic of Serbia, together with another 74 states and 12 international organizations, on 26 and 27 October 2021, participated in the international exercise ConvEx-3 (2021) that simulated an accident in the Barakah Nuclear Power Plant, in the United Arab Emirates. The organizers of the exercise were the International Atomic Energy Agency and the United Arab Emirates. During the exercise, Serbian Radiation and Nuclear Safety and Security Directorate for the first time used JRODOS Decision Support System which enables the users to make forecasts about the movement of a radioactive cloud, to assess the impact of a nuclear accident on the public and the environment, and to evaluate the efficiency of the intended protective actions.

Serbian Radiation and Nuclear Safety and Security Directorate, on 09-12 March 2021, participated in ConvEx-2b international exercise organized by the International Atomic Energy Agency. Despite the difficulties resulting from COVID-19 pandemic, the Directorate responded to all the requirements in this exercise and confirmed the efficiency of the national emergency response system
