Within the IAEA General Conference in Vienna, the President of the Provincial Government of Vojvodina and the Chair of SRBATOM Board, Maja Gojkovic had a meeting with Eve-Kulli Kala, Director of the Division for Europe and Jing Zhang, Section Head of the Division for Europe from the IAEA Department for Technical Cooperation. The meeting was an opportunity to discuss the projects the International Atomic Energy Agency is realizing in cooperation with the stakeholders and partners in Serbia, further steps towards their successful realization, as well as further modalities of cooperation between Serbian Radiation and Nuclear Safety and Security Directorate and this international organization.
The Head of Serbian delegation, Maja Gojkovic expressed her satisfaction with the cooperation between SRBATOM and the IAEA so far and presented the plans for its further development. In this regard, she emphasized the importance of the support this international organization provides for the Directorate in the field of education and regulatory framework in particular. As a good example towards achieving this goal, Gojkovic stressed the two-week training course on nuclear law that the IAEA will organize, in cooperation with SRBATOM, by the end of October at the Faculty of Law in Belgrade. Maja Gojkovic also used this opportunity to present the TC representatives with a number of the activities that the Republic of Serbia is carrying out in the process of developing nuclear energy and its peaceful uses.
The meeting was also attended by Zarko Obradovic, the Ambassador – Permanent Representative of the Republic of Serbia to the OSCE and Other International Organizations in Vienna and Sladjan Velinov, Director of Serbian Radiation and Nuclear Safety and Security Directorate.
