Commissioning of water radioactivity detector in Apatin

The activities of mounting of the detector serving to identify radionuclides in water (SARA water detector) and its subsequent submerging into the Danube was finalized on Tuesday, 01 October this year near Apatin.

This is the only detector measuring radioactivity in water in the Danube within the new early warning system in case of a nuclear or radiological emergency, which is based on 33 measuring stations.

The operation of the device itself and the radioactivity measurements in fresh water will be observed in the forthcoming period, whereupon the radioactivity monitoring results will be available on the EUropean Radiological Data Exchange Platform (EURDEP) which consists of data exchange mechanism and presentation website for radiological monitoring in almost real time.
