On 24 October, SRBATOM Director, Sladjan Velinov as the host, officially opened this international event under the name of “Regional Workshop on Public Information and Communication: Standards, Mechanisms and Challenges for Regulatory Bodies for Nuclear Safety and Security”. The main topics of this three-day workshop are: standards, mechanisms and challenges regulatory bodies in the field of nuclear safety and security face.
The workshop is organized under the auspices of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) and the European and Central Asia Safety Network (EuCAS), which is a part of the IAEA’s Global Nuclear Safety and Security Network (GNSSN).
Among other things, in his welcoming speech, Mr. Velinov stated that this workshop was organized as a part of EuCAS activities whose aim is to promote nuclear and radiation infrastructure in the region., especially through the exchange of experiences, information and good practice, as well as through strengthening professional capacities of the Member States in this field.
“It is my great pleasure to emphasize that the Republic of Serbia has actively participated in all the activities in connection with the EuCAS establishment and continues to support its further work in strengthening nuclear and radiation safety infrastructure, which will be the path Serbia plans to follow in the future as well”, added Velinov.
