British Ambassador to Serbia Participates in “Zelena Srbija” Project in Sremski Karlovci

Serbian Radiation and Nuclear Safety and Security Directorate (SRBATOM), in cooperation with Color Media Communications, and with the support of the Provincial Secretariat for Urban Planning and Environmental Protection, continued the project of „Zelena Srbija“ in Sremski Karlovci by planting 20 high-quality linden seedlings. The partners of this year’s project are the Public Company of “Vojvodinašume”, OTP Bank, Lidl and Telenor.

INTERNATIONAL EXERCISE ConvEx-3 (2021) SIMULATING RESPONSE TO NUCLEAR ACCIDENT COMPLETES

Serbian Radiation and Nuclear Safety and Security Directorate (SRBATOM) together with the Emergency Management Sector in the Ministry of Internal Affairs and the laboratories responsible for particular testing within the monitoring, participated in the international exercise ConvEx-3 (2021) whose primary purpose was to simulate the emergency in the Barakah nuclear power plant in the United Arab Emirates. The exercise was organized by the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) and the United Arab Emirates.

The Director of Serbian Radiation and Nuclear Safety and Security Directorate (SRBATOM), Mr Sladjan Velinov, as part of the European Commission Project “EP&R in the Western Balkans Region“, has visited Austrian radiation and nuclear safety regulatory body in Vienna. On the occasion, Mr Velinov had the opportunity to get acquainted with the work and the organization of both the Austrian regulatory body and JRODOS center, as the operational unit within the regulatory body providing support for nuclear emergency management.

The delegation of the Republic of Serbia is to participate in the 65th regular session of the IAEA’s General Conference (GC) between 20 and 24 September this year. Given the health and safety measures and restrictions in Austria in light of the COVID-19 pandemic, for the second consecutive year, the Conference will have changes in the organization and limited number of participants.

Commencement of Implementation of “Support to Regulatory Authority and the Vinča Site” Project

Today’s meeting in Serbian Radiation and Nuclear Safety and Security Directorate (SRBATOM) officially indicated the implementation of the international project “Support to Regulatory Authority and the Vinca Site”. The aim of this three-year project is to strengthen the capacities of Serbia in the fields of nuclear and radiation safety and safe radioactive waste management. The project is to be carried out by three institutions of the Republic of Serbia: Serbian Radiation and Nuclear Safety and Security Directorate, Public Company Nuclear Facilities of Serbia and Vinča Institute of Nuclear Sciences.
