The five-day interregional course under the name of “Detection, Dosimetry and Radiation Protection” has finished today at SAF CBRN Defense Centre in Krusevac. This course served the CBRN armed forces from Azerbaijan, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Greece, Italy, Hungary, the United States of America, Slovenia and Spain to broaden their CBRN defense knowledge and skills which are necessary for carrying out specialized tasks in the circumstances involving ionizing radiation exposure.
Dr. Milan Tanic, Radiation and Nuclear Safety and Security Inspector at Serbian Radiation and Nuclear Safety and Security Directorate, participated in this training course as a lecturer, together with other certified CBRN Defense Centre instructors and guest lecturers from Vinca Institute of Nuclear Sciences.
During this five-day training in specialized labs and on the training ground, the participants had the opportunity to practice the use of the instruments for detection and dosimetry, measurement techniques and radiation source identification tools, the means for the assessment of radiation impact on biological systems and the application of fundamental protection measures.
Such courses have special importance in terms of advancing the capacities of Serbian armed forces in the field of radiation protection and strengthening military cooperation with the partner countries.
