The unverified claims and information on the release of radioactive substances into the environment during a huge explosion near the city of Khmelnytskyi in Western Ukraine, when an army silo was destroyed, appeared on social media.
Serbian Radiation and Nuclear Safety and Security Directorate has not received any official confirmation of such claims. The measured radioactivity levels in our country do not substantiate any of these claims and do not call for any radiation protection measures.
The Directorate continues to observe and follow the radioactivity levels in Europe via the EUropean Radiological Data Exchange Platform (EURDEP) and the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA).
In the event of any deviations from normal radiation levels that could affect people and the environment, the Directorate will timely inform the public.
